I have not read a manga to date. But I am interested in reading the Gundam Seed Astray manga due to the fact that I hear good things about it and that I really liked gundam seed. So, what are you thoughts on GSA?Is it worth reading because I dont like reading so I want to make sure I dont waste the effort and money.

Gundam SEED Astray in all of its incarnations (Astray, Astray R, Astray B, X Astray, & Destiny Astray) is definitely worth it! In terms of writing, it's on par with (and in some ways, even superior to) the original Gundam SEED, and provides an excellent companion story that helps to better flesh out the Cosmic Era and even fill in some of SEED's plotholes. It starts off a little slow, but once it picks up, it really gets going.
The characters are what make the series. They're all nicely fleshed out, and they're arranged in a way that allows the series to tow the line nicely between serious and comedic moments (that's another great thing about Astray; no angst, and it doesn't take itself too seriously). The mobile suit designs are also extremely nice. Not just the three (eventually four) Astray Gundams, but also the variations on other SEED mobile suits that are featured. I've yet to meet a person that didn't utterly love the Sword Calamity.
Oh, and if you ever wanted to know about some of SEED's minor characters, like ZAFT ace Miguel Aiman, or Orb tech Erica Simmons, or the three female M1 Astray pilots, then you're in luck. Astray also gives these characters much more development than SEED did.

Astray R is a four-volume manga focusing primarily on Lowe's exploits with the Red Frame. Some of it's plot-relevant, some isn't. Astray B is more or less the same thing, albeit focusing on Gai Murakumo & Blue Frame. Astray B also isn't a manga, but rather a photo-novel (meaning the chances of an English release are unfotunately very low ).
X Astray is the direct sequel to the first Astray, and is required for Destiny Astray because it introduces you to many characters who actually end up playing important roles in Destiny Astray. Characters such as Edward Harrelson, Rondo Mina Sahaku (introduced in Astray, but really only developed in X Astray), Prayer Reverie, and Canard Pars.
Unfortunately, I should also point out, the only two Astray installments available locally at the moment are Astray & Astray R. X Astray & Destiny Astray should be coming out at some point, but no announcement has been made as of yet.
