Svetlana did do a bonus story for the Omnibus edition Tokyopop put out in 2009, so there's a little bit more DramaCon out there. She's also doing Night School for Yen Press serialized in the Yen Plus magazine- 3 books are out so far, with a 4th book commissioned and possibly mroe, so be sure to check that out. It's good stuff. I think she's also planning on reviving her webcomic at Girlamatic, which was published before Dramacon, at some point

I'm glad she stopped where she did.

She had a story to tell, she told it, and that was that.
Just imagine if the TP editors all jumped on Svet's back and told her, "Dramacon is our most popular original series, everyone LOOOOOOVES it, you have to keep doing more!!!" against her will ...
You'd have Christy and her friends in college powering up for 7 CHAPTERS, followed by about 3 pages of fighting, and then they start POWERING UP AGAIN for the next challenge ... oh and maybe at some point they would have a crossover encounter with Princess Ai.

I'd prefer to leave Dramacon exactly where it is: a beautiful memory full of heart and laughter.

Is Svetlana still writing? I haven't read anything by her for quite some time.

Yup, she's writing/drawing Night School for Yen Press every month (which she started around the same time DramaCon 3 was being finished). The collections include the colour pages too. I think it's going to go up to Vol.4, with more depending on sales [5 might of already been approved, though I haven't seen word about it yet- since 4's collected eidtion is scheduled for October, I'm guessing we might see more]

I imagine she's up to other stuff, though she hasn't made any public announcements yet.

Volume 3 of Nightschool is out?! When did It com out? I freakin' LOVE Nightschool!!! Everything about it is perfect...well-developed and designed characters, an intriguing mystery plot and just the right amount of comic relief.

If you love Svetlana Chmakova, don't cry over the end of Drama*Con. That was her professional debut in which she started learning all the skills of being a great sequential artist and storyteller. Read Nightschool and watch as she polishes and *perfects* those skills!

Actually, Svetlana did a few other professional works before Dramacon, including two webcomics at professionally edited sites, Chasing Rainbows (which I linked to above) and Night Silver at Wirepop.... I have some minicomic collections she did of each. DramaCon was her first graphic novel though.
