I loved Baccano! I thought it was a really great show and it left me wanting more.
So I got pretty excited when I learned the same people responsible for Baccano! were going to be doing a new show this winter that's based off a light novel by Ryohgo Narita-the writer of Baccano!

Sorry - the original subject was supposed to read:

"Marissa, update my schedge" Durarara!! comming this winter

I ran out of space in the subject line so it was cut off at the end.

The "Marissa, update my schedge" is a quote from an episode of a tv show that I like. I was just using that quote to say that I'm going to make time to watch Durarara!! when I get a chance.

Sorry for any confusion, it wasn't my intent. I was just happy to hear about the show and thought the trailer looked cool.

Maybe we should change the title to "Durarara!! (New Anime from the makers of Baccano!)" to avoid the merge with the inevitable "Durarara!!" thread?

Anyway, I've posted a synopsis at the encyclopedia entry based off the description at the webpage. This looks to be as strange as Baccano! with a cast of characters almost as large.

But to start things off here, the title is (so far as I can tell) a joking mispronunciation of the word "dullahan." From the Oxford Dictionary of Celtic Mythology (1998):

dullahan: Headless phantom, on horseback or in horse-drawn coach, in Irish folklore. The dullahan rides a headless horse or may ride in a coach drawn by headless horses. His face is the colour and texture of mouldy cheese; his eyes make a bridge from ear to ear; his huge eyes dart like flies. But the dullahan can put on or take off this hideous head at will, or play ghoulish games with it. His black horse has a head with flaming eyes and short-cropped ears that outdistance its body by six yards or more. His whip will flick out the eyes of those who watch him. Those opening their doors to hear the dullahan rumbling by will have basins of blood thrown in their faces. It is an omen of death to the houses where he passes.


One of the characters in Durarara!! is the "headless black rider," who rides a motorcycle and, well, has no head. So I guess we'll have a modern take on the dullahan. Whether or not it's a good guy or a bad guy, I don't know. The character description is intentionally vague.

you sir, Win my personal guess that anime game I've been playing since i saw the last episode for darker than black. after the episode there was a 15 or so second ad for this show, and since i can't read japanese i had no idea what it was called. and i couldnt find it after google searching a few of the names they mentioned.

great find, and i too am anxious for this one

I'm definitely excited for this anime.
The trailer intrigues me.
(so does the random Horo popping out of nowhere lol)
