Life Live-action Drama (based on Suenobu Keiko's manga)

Live-action drama

Fuji TV began airing a television drama based on the Life manga on June 30, 2007 at 11:10 PM (replacing Liar Game). The eleventh and final episode aired on September 15. Popular singer Mika Nakashima performed the theme song, also titled "Life", which was sold as a single starting August 22 (mobile downloads began at the end of July). The actual soundtrack is now available in Japan, as is a full-series DVD boxed set; the latter was released on December 19. The plotline for the drama is much more focused on bullying than is the original manga, and many changes were made, ranging from mild and hardly noteworthy to significant and highly noticeable.

It has 4 points now; not sure if it's "popular" enough.

Ijime (especially between girls) is a big headache of Japanese educators but I don't know how many people outside Japan ever heard about it, let alone realizing its severity.

First off - live action Ayumu looks great - just like in the manga.
Life is one of those manga that just sucked me right in. It's very rare to find any kind of media that deals with self mutilation, especially something that deals with it in a sympathetic light - usually people who do it are branded as being whiny, or vying for attention or not having 'real' problems.
But I think the real draw of the story is watching this girl go from being a beaten down victim, to eventually developing a spine, and learning to stand up for herself. Plus, the friendship between Ayumu and Hatori is very touching.
Since Life hasn't been completely translated yet, maybe I can get my fix through the live-action version.
I think I'm going to go bug my boyfriend to download it for me. :3
