Well, here's hoping Crunchyroll gets streaming rights because i highly doubt FUNimation will get it seeing as how the rest of the show went straight to their SAVE line after their first release (ala Big Windup) and they have yet to get the two Battle Stage OVAs along with Extra Stage 2. Mad

I'm still waiting for Kodansha to re-release the damn manga after they yanked it from TOKYOPOP several years ago.

Because everyone knows crap currently aired cannot be compared (in terms of popularity) to such highly acknowledged series.

Loved this series except for the relationships , which were pointlessly miserable. I mean its not like the show is a romantic drama so any romance in it should be fun and for the most part happy. Because the series is about cars not girls.

Take Fighting Spirit for example, it has relationships in it which are fun and happy for the most part because they are there just to give more story and development for the characters. It knew it was about Boxing and not girls.

That was the one problem i had with Initial D, not blaming the anime tho' since the issue is in the original manga. It just makes a fun show needlessly depressing in sections. I mean why am i bummed out about this , its an anime about cars dammit! ya know i just didn't like that part of it.

Anyone else find this an issue? i know the iketani and mako story pissed people off for its endless teasing only to end in complete misery. Which yes might have been realistic in real life and yes works in a Romance/Drama but in a show about Cars it was nothing but depressing and pointless imo. Like if you want to create that sort of drama do it through the medium the show is based around. The Cars! The Races! The Racers!

.... im still looking forward to this tho' Razz

You presume too much. No, it's because they're running low on easy-cash light novels and manga and are turning to old standbys they know will produce money. Same reason rehashes, remakes, and sequels are made.

I am fully aware that anime is a BUSINESS and all the restarts, sequels, etc are designed to make money from the fans. But still - I prefer setting, art, characters from the older universes than showing-breasts-90%-time new animes.

There are also shows airing that aren't like that, and they're just fine.

Reading the news headline, it says nothing about whether they are continuing with the fifth stage or starting new, but I'm happy with either way they decide to go.

HELLS YES.

There's enough material in the manga that hasn't been covered by the anime to easily make a 24-episode TV series. Assuming you don't cut Keisuke's battles out again...

On another note, I personally find the non-racing scenes a relief. It's the only time that the story advances, or characters are developed. Plus there's occasionally some funny scenes too. The romances are always ruined because Shigeno apparently hates women. LOL. None of his manga characters have had a successful relationship since Baribari Densetsu, which ended in like 1992.. hehe

I also love the non-racing but car-related technobabble scenes.
