This kind of question has come up before, the thread How "risqué" is Kaleido Star? is probably of interest as it's about whether it would be appropriate for an eight-year-old. The consensus seems to be pretty much, "yes."

I'm pretty sure this thread will help you decide. IMHO though, it's a good gift for a 7 year old, with all its inspirational "I can do this!" vibes.

EDIT: did not see Surrender Artist's post before me. Link goes to the same thread. Smile

the anime would be fine for a 7yr old as far as mature content is concerned the story might get a bit beyond them/over their heads at times though.

Because of your lack of punctualtion, dragoneyes001, your statement can be equally interpreted in two quite different ways.

Either: The anime would be fine for a seven year old as far as mature content is concerned. The story might get a bit beyond them or over their heads at times, though.

Or: The anime would be fine for a seven year old. As far as mature content is concerned the story might get a bit beyond them or over their heads times, though.

Please be nice to your readers and punctuate your posts. Wink

In an age where iPads come with no eating warnings I'm not so sure anymore.

In my time we didn't eat our Game Boy.

I think it's mentioned in the thread that was linked but I'll just point out that the English dub is tamer than the English subtitles (certain lewd or rude comments are removed or toned down in the dub).

Would you believe that I remembered that thread almost instantly when I saw this one, despite having never seen Kaleido Star, but I can't remember my bank account number half the time? It's like I have some really stupid super power.

It's the internet; if you don't go from zero to Hitler in 3.2 seconds or less for minor slights, you must be a poof.

Yes, Zero to Godwin's Law 3.2 seconds.

That is what is known as an epic Hitler fail.

Sorry, Lik Kis, but take solace in the fact that that other thread exists and it does discuss your topic in detail.

dragoneyes001 has been warned (again) for behavior here. Let's do everyone the courtesy of not bringing up that post further.

Ahem...Getting BACK to the subject:

To save time reading the linked "Risque'?" thread, the Cliff Notes version is that the parent saw no offensive content, but the intended viewer ended up thinking it was a little "scary", because it's hard real circus work, and there's tension that our characters face possible injuries.

That might not seem a concern to us grownups, but it's worth taking into consideration. Otherwise, it's fairly harmless all around, and the "right kind" of heroine/role model. Smile

I would say yes, it's very good, no cussing ( or at least non that I've heard of) no fan serice, the only thing you have to worry about is the perverted fool but if she's mature enough she could laugh if not she can always go back to the series when she is older and rewatch it to get the jokes later on. But I would definently say yes to it. Very Happy
