Lololol as I’ve only ever been loyal to Nintendo, I actually don’t mind if Nintendo has a difficult time controlling the release of the S2 now. Laughing They will have my money under the same circumstances of comfort that I’ve always been fine with, so there needs to be some giving back on their part for that. Here’s to hoping international sales fall flat on their face.

All the furore about US pricing made me curious to see what the US is paying relative to the rest of the world for its entertainment products.

Found this: https://www.lowyat.net/2017/124727/nintendo-switch-price-comparison-malaysia-vs-singapore-japan-and-united-states/ which gives a breakdown of what it cost back then to buy the 2017 Switch in different regions. Bear in mind this is 2017, pre-Covid and with Japan then still stuck in a deflationary spiral.

Conclusions I've drawn:

1. The United States doesn't set the highest price relative to the rest of the world (EU with its import taxes charges more etc.)
2. The home market (Japan) gets it cheaper than most countries (no surprises)
3. Those thinking about holding out for improved models down the line (tariffs be damned) might want to consider the value of the US dollar next year and beyond in addition to any retaliation/escalation that might be imposed in the near future with regards to prices (I very much doubt it's going to be any cheaper moving forward).

America decided to press the red button again, and this time we're all in the shit together. There won't be any way to dodge it, and you aren't going to be able to wait it out unless you want to wait 4+ years. We're all going to have to get used to having less (again).

I'm just going to pretend it's 1995 all over again, when owning 10 games for a current gen console meant your parents were rich, you shared with your neighbors, and we had like 75% less electronic devices.

Just a heads up for any of you that missed this: the president of Nintendo of America was on CNBC earlier talked about Switch 2, and the effect of the tariffs.
