The fact that it uses an LCD means that they're absolutely gearing up for this in the future. Otherwise, the Switch 2 does look like a good bit of hardware at present, although I have little interest in obtaining one until a new Animal Crossing or mainline Mario game comes out. Hopefully, the price will also decrease a bit in the meantime. |

For sure. I expect another mid-gen release. Whether it's an upgraded "Pro" model, or just a nicer OLED variant is the question. They left room to include a noticeable improvement later. From what I've read, Nintendo intended to do some sort of Switch Pro but unavailability of parts made them dial it back. |

Eh, I always found the Pro rumors to be complete bunk based on what people wanted without understanding that's not what Nintendo does. The power pursuit has blown up in other devs' faces while Nintendo intentionally chose to take it slower[/list]

Okay I am not paying $500 for the same playing experience as the OG, which was awful looking back, trying to play BREATH OF THE WILD on only, literally — To the minute — 3 hours of portable battery life. I know they know it’s a problem that they are trying to work out, but that problem alone is not worth what they want me to pay for it. I’ll be waiting to not get half-assed for more money.

Given the way a lot of recent AAA games have been underperforming if not outright bombing I'm not so sure about that. I think with the industry becoming much more expensive and competitive video game devs will have to come to grips with the fact they either start making games people actually want to buy or go under. If video games are to cost 80 or even 90 dollars now one would hope they are going to start making sure it's going to be something people actually want to play like a fun Nintendo title rather than something like Star Wars Outlaws or any other of games that underperformed this past year. If I have to pay a few bucks extra for video games now then I find that to be an acceptable trade-off; assuming they're actually good and worth buying. But just for the record I think Nintendo is being incredibly greedy here and out of line so before anyone thinks I'm defending these prices. I'm not. I'm just fortunate to be in a financial position I can adjust if I need to. But the best case scenario is we see another 3DS situation where Nintendo slashes the prices dramatically due to low sales. |

Nah, that ain't happening. At least not on the console end. Look we can debate all day about whether the price is because of tariffs or if it's greed or both or whatever other reason, but we'll never truly know unless someone's "uncle at Nintendo" (specifically someone in the higher ups and/or sales department) breaks their NDA and says so. But I think that this thing's initial sales are gonna do gangbusters because of impulse buys alone (and of course the scalper scene is gonna swarm). Nintendo will see that as justification to keep the console the same. The only real question in my mind is if they're gonna try to keep the $80 price tag on games, which I guess we'll see when DK Bananza (and other Switch 2 originals) comes out. That'll be after the initial rush and people will have had time to cool down from the hype (plus it helps that even though the game looks amazing, DK has never been on Mario's level when it comes to sales). Of course I do expect a price drop on the console eventually, it's just a question of when, and unfortunately unless there is a major (and I mean capital-M Major) dropoff in the months following the initial release, I don't see a price drop happening until at least a full year after launch. |

Unless people don’t buy this straight out the gate like what happened with the 3DS. That griping ain’t changing a thing.
No we’re sure these underperforming games you’re alluding to did not underperform because they were woke/political.
Here’s the problem with this video game developers can make a game that people want that in no way means their game will sell and make a return on its investment. Especially when consumers are notoriously picky. On top of the way these games can undergo numerous changes before and even in the middle of development. |

Not anymore, they have been delayed indefinitely, though the June launch date still stands... |

Yeah, I was going to bring this up when I saw the announcement via my Instagram/SNS just posted that information up. Oh boy, I expect this tariff to have a impact on Switch 2's price increase, and that's to be expected. |

From what I heard on the French news a few hours ago, the decision to delay pre-orders only affects the US. The date remains the same for the rest of the worl. No hardware components are manufactured in the US, so the price shouldn't change outside of the US but i wouldn't bet on that ( not that we aren't already suffering more than our US friends, right now the MKW pack is at 509,99€, in US dollar that's about 558$ at the moment i'm writing ).

From what I heard, US is still getting the switch 2 on the same date, but the actual preorder price is in limbo because of the upcoming tarrifs.
Also, I heard the battery life is going to be pretty bad. Hopefully they will release a battery expansion, like they did on 3ds and wii u. |

Yeah a larger screen with higher resolution + more processing going on behind the scenes means this baby's inevitably gonna end up eating more battery than the original. I don't know how much shorter it'll be than switch 1 but the larger size probably doesn't give it that much more space for a bigger battery. |

This is one of those things where multiple things can be true that the tariffs are bad and having a negative effect but also Nintendo has always been greedy and anti-consumerist.
