Heck, if we're talking about wording differences, I recently used a quote from Saint Seiya Soul of Gold using Daisuki subs which apparently are different from Crunchyroll subs. Guess I should've marked "Daisuki subs" so no one got confused if one or two words were different in the version they found? The excuse for this rule change is rather fickle, tbh

The official English subs--or dubs, for that matter--themselves can differ dramatically from each other. I have chosen Crunchy subs over Nico subs specifically because I prefer how Crunchy translated the lines over Nico, and I seem to recall doing something similar with the Cardcaptors dub. DBD/Blu-rays can use dubtitles even when the official simulcast uses a closer translation of the original time. Difference from the version you might be familiar with is no reason to reject a fansub quote--as long as it is not a trollsub.
The use of a dub quote means that the title has been dubbed. The use of a sub quote implies nothing about the existence or lack of a dub. I see no reason why the use of a fansub should imply anything about the existence or lack of an official sub or dub. |

Don't think I've used this before. From the subs:
"Even insects smell good when roasted." About Fansubs In the interest of keeping the peace, I am eliminating the rule about fansub use. However, I am still formally requesting that when fansubs are being used in lieu of official existing subs, that should be indicated. I don't see that as unreasonable, and it's not like it takes a lot of research. (Go to the Encyclopedia entry for the series. If it has a review or official VHS/DVD/BR release listed then it has official subs. If it doesn't but is recent enough to be in the streaming era then scan through the linked News items for mention of it being picked up for streaming. Even in the latter case, it takes less than a minute.) And yes, even if I am the only one majorly bothered by it, I still think it's a reasonable request. I am making accommodations to others here to keep the peace; some reciprocation would be nice. And Vaisaga: You're just being ridiculous about the dubs. But I assume that was intentional. |

Naturally. One method I use is to apply some one's argument to something similar in order to highlight how silly it is. |
