Alien Nine (manga)

Naruto (manga) Excellent Mind you when I say I read some of it I mean the first chapter. It was awesome and I want to read more.
Neon Genesis Evangelion: Campus Apocalypse (manga)
Pokémon (manga) I haven't read that much but I would like to if I could no matter how bad the art gets. Fun Fact: When you bought the original Pokémon VHSs (at least in Canada) you would get a mini issues (a few chapters) of this in paperback form. I still have mine in perfect condition so that must say something about me.

Angelic Layer (manga) Good
Chobits (manga)
Death Note (manga) Excellent There's no real difference between this and the anime except for the ending that won't be discussed for obvious reasons. I personally enjoyed the anime more because the animation is fantastic (which makes me feel bad since Death Note is pure dialogue, animation is meant to be the icing on the cake, not the cake itself). So, if you enjoy the anime version you'll enjoy this and vice-versa except if you're a Death Note fanatic crying "No! The anime was perfect! How dare you claim this is on the same level!"
Fruits Basket (manga) Excellent
Lucky Star (manga by K Yoshimizu) I regret buying as many volumes as I did. I don't hate it but the manga is a step down from the anime because of one unavoidable fact, jokes are funnier when they are said out loud, than when they are read. This is the reason why I will always watch dubs for comedies and only after I have completed watching will I listen to it in the original language. Also this manga made me realize I don't like gag strips which makes me want to thank it for helping me save money. What I'm saying is that I appreciate it more than I enjoy it.
Paradise Kiss (manga) Excellent
Pichi Pichi Pitch (manga) Weak Good God why did I read the whole series? Oh well, there's some time I can't get back. It's about magical girls that are really mermaids (magical mermaids?) that use singing to defeat their enemies. How do you think I feel? Well what's good? The music teacher's story is kind of compelling, I really love the part where he is signing his song about his love for a certain mermaid and then you find out what he's really been singing about the whole time. I just love the artwork and how it was presented. I like Michal's story too. That and the title is really fun to say. Just take out the Mermaid Melody part of it and try to say Pichi Pichi Pitch 3 times fast.
Pokémon Adventures (manga) Good
Pokémon Gold & Silver (manga)
Pokémon: Mystery Dungeon - Ginji's Rescue Team (manga) Good The first manga I ever bought. Ahh... memories. Looking back I was able to adapt to the whole "backwards comic book" format really fast. Because I have a nostalgic love for anything Pokémon I might be giving it a higher rating than it deserves (if that is true I apologize) but you gotta admit, the premise is great. Seriously why do people hate the Mystery Dungeon spin-offs? You can become a Pokémon! Hell, you can become a GOD! Unfortunately you can't get this with the manga so some people will hate the main character, if you do I understand why. I personally enjoyed it and always will.
Puella Magi Kazumi Magica - The Innocent Malice (manga) Good This is my least favourite spin-off of Madoka Magica but don't get me wrong its still good. Unlike Madoka Magica some of the horror comes off as just there to scare and horrify the audience instead of being there to advance the plot which defiantly makes the writing quality lower than Oriko and Madoka. Besides that and some other problems (I find how it handled the twist with Yuuri a missed opportunity) Kazumi is still entertaining. And in the grand tradition of the Madoka spin-offs we have gay magical girl couples, this time openly! Hooray! To anyone who disagrees I would like to point out the "I love you Saki" line as proof. Also there's a girl named Yuuri... who had a friend... and we later find out they were very close... anymore details would go into spoiler territory.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica (manga) Masterpiece Its a spinoff of the anime and was meant to be as close to the original as possible, therefore my rating is the same. The biggest difference between the manga and the anime is the ending which seems to be a trend in Japan. 'Course I didn't catch the ending change the first time so I guess it's subtle.
Puella Magi Oriko Magica (manga) Excellent I like this (obliviously) less than the anime but more than the Kazumi spinoff. I think the story is good and the new characters are good too. And finally with all of the Les Yay subtext in the original we get the first gay magical girl relationship, unfortunately they never come out and say it. I don't know why with it being so obvious (seriously it would only take one panel -_-).
Shugo Chara! (manga) Very good
Tokyo Mew Mew (manga) Good I have some nostalgic love for this series since it was my first magical girl experience. For the record I love the magical girl genre, but it can be very repetitive and sappy. Luckily Tokyo Mew Mew (unlike the anime) doesn't have enough time to be repetitive (don't worry, the sappy is here to stay!). I really like the art, I especially love the magical girl outfit designs. They are all similar to each other, but each one is distinctive. If I had to pick between the anime or manga I'll always go with the manga.
Tokyo Mew Mew a la Mode (manga) So-so I was pretty happy to find out there was a sequel to Tokyo Mew Mew. I went out and got my copy and started reading and man was I disappointed. Okay, it wasn't that big of a let down but everything in à la Mode is a step down. It doesn't have enough time to develop its story and the main character herself is a Mary Sue (At least Ichigo got into some awkward situations because of her cat ears and her other major cat power that shows up later). Also the title doesn't fit since "à la mode" means "in the style" in French. Here's some advice, if you are a major step down from the original series then you aren't "in the style." And when will Mew Ringo get her own spin-off manga? Am I the only one who cares about her?
