Nintendo to End Production of Wii Console After 7 Years

Nintendo reported on Tuesday that it will end production of its Wii game console after seven years and over 100 million units shipped worldwide. Nintendo's public relations noted that the Wii U console can play current and future Wii software. Production of Wii's lower-priced version, the Wii Mini, will continue for overseas markets.

The Wii U has shipped over 3.6 million units since launching at the end of last year.
