Manga creators Kazune Kawahara (High School Debut, Ore Monogatari!!) and Karuho Shiina (Kimi ni Todoke) will collaborate on an exclusive one-shot manga for the June issue of Shueisha's Betsuma Margaret magazine on May 13. The chapter and the entire issue commemorate the magazine's 50th anniversary. The issue will also have a discussion between the two creators.
Kawahara's High School Debut shōjo manga also ran in Bessatsu Margaret between 2003-2008. Viz Media released all 13 volumes of the manga between 2008-2010. Kawahara currently pens the Ore Monogatari!! (My Story) with artist Aruko's (Yasuko to Kenji, Shūdensha) in Bessatsu Margaret.
Kimi ni Todoke began in Bessatsu Margaret in 2005, and it inspired a two-season television anime and a live-action film. The 18th manga volume went on sale in January, and the manga has over 20 million copies in print.
Kawahara is drawing a separate 50-page, one-shot chapter for Enkoi Debut (Eternal Love Debut), the follow-up manga to her High School Debut shojo romance manga.
The 50th anniversary issue will also include a collaborative manga (pictured left) with artists Momoka Koda (Heroine Shikkaku) and Mika Yamamori (Hirunaka no Ryūsei), a new series by Akira Ozaki (Atashi Bambi) titled Gakkō e Ikō, a new series by Nojin Yuki titled Fujishiro-san-kei., and the finale to Masami Nagata's Sukitte Iwaseru Hōhō manga.
