Karuho Shiina's 16th Kimi ni Todoke manga volume went on sale on Friday, bringing the manga's total number of copies printed to over 20 million. The manga began serialization in 2005 in Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret anthology.
The manga tells the story of Sawako Kuronuma, nicknamed Sadako (from The Ring) because of her long black hair and pale skin makes her appear gloomy. The popular Shōta Kazahaya builds a friendship with Sawako that blossoms into romance.
Viz Media publishes the English version of the manga while NIS America is releasing the first and second seasons of the anime adaptation. A live-action adaptation premiered in Japan in 2010.
