The Cinema Today website began streaming the full trailer for the second live-action film adaptation of Ryuta Amazume's Nana to Kaoru erotic romantic comedy manga on Friday. The film will screen at the Eurospace theater in Tokyo's Shibuya ward from September 8 to 21.
The first Nana to Kaoru "pure adolescent love film with 'SM'" premiered in the same theater on March 19, 2011. Rakuto Tochihara and Maho Nagase starred in the film as high school students Kaoru and Nana, but Miku Aono replaces Nagase as Nana in the second film. Atsushi Shimizu wrote and directed both films, and Mitsuru Ohshima produced both.
The original Nana to Kaoru manga follows a boy named Kaoru who still has erotic feelings for his childhood friend and fellow high school student Nana. The pair lives as neighbors in an apartment building, and their relationship develops — with elements of sadomasochism — when they attend high school together.
The original manga's first eight volumes shipped as a set in Japan on May 4. Hideki Okamoto directed an original video animation adaptation, which shipped with the manga's sixth volume in March 2011. Tamami Momose's four-panel spinoff manga debuted in Japan in October 2011. Hakusensha released a limited-edition Nana to Kaoru: Black Label volume in June 2011, and a second volume followed this past May.
