Japanese Box Office, January 24-25

Takahisa Zeze's Kansen Rettō film dropped to #2 in its second weekend on Kogyo Tsushinsha's Japanese box office chart. During the January 24-25 weekend, this live-action film adaptation of Masasumi Kakizaki's horror manga made way for the new #1: Marc Forster's James Bond film Quantum of Solace. According to Box Office Mojo, Kansen Rettō added the equivalent of US$2,414,003 to its total of US$8,745,900 on 324 screens.
Shinshun Super Sentai-sai: Engine Sentai Go-onger vs. Gekiranger, Toei's latest live-action special-effects film, opened at #3 with US$964,079 on 292 screens. Major: Yūjō no Winning Shot, Takao Kato's anime film based on Takuya Mitsuda's baseball manga, dropped from #9 off the chart in its seventh weekend.
