Japanese Box Office, January 31-February 1

The second film in Yukihiko Tsutsumi's three-part adaptation of Naoki Urasawa's 20th Century Boys manga debuted at #1 on Kogyo Tsushinsha's Japanese box office chart during the January 31-February 1 weekend. According to Box Office Mojo, 20th Century Boys Part II: Saigo no Kibō earned the equivalent of US$6,955,472 on 374 screens.
Takahisa Zeze's Kansen Rettō film dropped from #2 to #4 in its third weekend. This live-action film adaptation of Masasumi Kakizaki's horror manga added US$2,204,496 to its total of US$13,124,171 on 324 screens. Shinshun Super Sentai-sai: Engine Sentai Go-onger vs. Gekiranger, Toei's latest live-action special-effects film, fell from #3 to #7, but added US$766,214 to its gross-to-date of US$1,998,105 on 143 screens.
