posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The official website for the Code Geass: Akito the Exiled original video anime (OVA) revealed three more characters on Tuesday. The website already announced that Mayu Irino will star as Akito, a pilot in the defeated Euro Universe (E.U.) military's special forces unit "W-0." Maaya Sakamoto will play Reila, a former noblewoman of Britannia and a W-0 unit commander.
The new characters are:
Ryo, an E.U. general and leader of a group that opposes the mafia
Yukiya, a male member of Ryo's group who is skilled in information gathering and the use of explosives
Ayano, a female member of Ryo's group who always carries a sword
The project's website also listed additional staff members on Tuesday. Director Kazuki Akane (Escaflowne, Noein - to your other self, Birdy the Mighty: Decode) will write the OVA's scripts with Miya Asakawa (Turn A Gundam, Birdy the Mighty: Decode). Shigeru Morita (Mobile Suit Gundam Seed, Blood+), who was in charge of special settings in Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2, will collaborate on series composition. Takeshi Satou (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Mobile Suit Gundam 00) will serve as art director, while Kazushige Kanehira (Fullmetal Alchemist, Birdy the Mighty: Decode) will plan the art, and Kumiko Nakayama (Aquarion Evol, Macross Frontier) will contribute color designs.
Kenji Teraoka, Takumi Sakura, and Takashi Miyamoto will return from the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion television anime to create mecha designs, and Eiji Inomoto (Aquarion, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) will be the CG animation director. Ichiko Hashimoto (RahXephon) will compose the anime's music, and the title of Maaya Sakamoto's theme song will be "More Than Wars."
As in the previous two television series, Takahiro Kimura is adapting Clamp's original character designs for animation. Akira Yasuda is also returning to design the mechanical Nightmare units. The anime studio Sunrise, the previous Code Geass director Goro Taniguchi, and the previous series script supervisor Ichiro Okouchi are credited with the original story. Acclaimed composer Yoko Kanno and lyricist Yuho Iwasato — the same team that created Sakamoto's debut song "Yakusoku wa Iranai" as The Vision of Escaflowne anime's opening theme — are reuniting for the theme song.
The side story is set in the European warfront, where a unit made of boys and girls from Zone Eleven is sent into a military operation with a 5% chance of survival.
