Tyree Tinsley Holds Champion Trophy High at Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series Meadowlands
El Segundo, CA (May 16, 2013) – Two days of head-to-head competition culminated in the naming of a new Yu-Gi-Oh! CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (YCS) Champion – Richmond, Virginia's Tyree Tinsley! Presented by Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (Konami) this premier event was attended by hundreds of talented Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) Duelists from the Tri-state area and Eastern seaboard.
The Dueling began early Saturday morning as the First Round of competition got underway. As nerves subsided and players settled into their chairs, the Duels got increasingly intense as the day progressed. Moving into the late rounds Sunday, all eyes were turned toward the Champion's Trophy, a signal that the top two Duelists would soon be determined with their final fate just minutes away.
It was Tinsley and James Guerrero who successfully out-Dueled their opponents for the coveted two spots at the Final Round table. Armed with a Mermail Deck, Guerrero was confident that his strategies and skill would take him all the way. Just as assured was Tinsley, coolheaded as he also played his proven Mermail Deck. It was an exciting Final Round as play after play and card after card brought both Duelists to the edge of their seats. With a final gasp from the audience, Tinsley emerged victorious!
In addition to the title of Champion, the winner also earned an amazing set of prizes that included an Ultra Rare Digvorzhak, King of Heavy Industry YCS Prize Card, an exclusive YCS Top Cut Mat, and an invitation to the 2013 World Championship Qualifier tournament on July 13-14 in Chicago, Illinois and much more!
Once more, Ben Leverett won the Dragon Duel (for Duelists born 2000 or later), expertly out-playing his Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG peers on Saturday to earn a special Dragon Duel Champion's Medal, a 2013 Regional Game Mat, and an invitation to his region's 2013 Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier. There, he can earn an invitation to the Dragon Duel World Championship to be played at the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship August 10-11 in Las Vegas, Nevada. On Sunday, Leverett did it again and beat out a confident and skilled bunch of competitors to earn the same high honors as Saturday!
