Splatoon 2 Trailer Shows Single-Player Mode

posted on by Karen Ressler
Nintendo Switch game ships July 21

Nintendo began streaming a "single player" trailer for Splatoon 2 during its ARMS Nintendo Direct presentation on Wednesday.

Nintendo describes the game's single-player mode:

Callie—of Squid Sisters fame—has gone missing and it's up to you, with the help of Marie, to search for Callie and the Great Zapfish while battling against the Octarian army. Use different weapons in single-player mode to overcome obstacles, defeat enemies and take down towering bosses – weapons like the Roller, Slosher, Splatling, or the new Dualies.

The Nintendo Switch game will ship on July 21. The game will use both the Joy-Con and Pro controllers, and can be played in both TV Mode and Handheld Mode. Players can play matches against opponents online, or via local multiplayer. Similarly to the original Splatoon game, Nintendo will continue to update Splatoon 2 with new stages and weapons after the game launches. Nintendo is also planning in-game events.

Nintendo released the first Splatoon game for the Wii U in May 2015. The game centers on "Inklings," who are beings who can transform between human and squid form. The game pits players in a fight for territory as two teams fight to cover their battlefield with their respective paint colors.
