My honest first thought is that this should be a weekday thing, not a once a week thing. Hopefully this block is in it for the long haul, because otherwise…

They need to air rayearth, slayers, and escaflowne on the block if this succeeds! Plus, hope they bring in every 4kids, nelvana, and Saban dubbed anime like Pokemon, Yugioh, Shaman king, and Tokyo Mew mew power on the block also.

Toonami never aired any of the 4KIds shows, so I doubt it'll ever happen (also MMP is still on YouTube, I think)..

they did air pokemon, yugioh, and their dub of one piece back in the 2000s.

Yeah Naruto is 220 eps, without skipping Friday's the earliest it would end is 2028

Despite being a nostalgic block with kids shows, it is aimed at adults and the audience wouldnt go for it and I doubt Jason De Marco would add those over edited kids shows.
You would have have better luck and even better ratings with Me TV Toons, try that instead.

Wow, this is awesome! Hope we get to see Big O.
I'd love to see some [adult swim] action shows that haven't aired since before the Toonami revival, but given it's a transition block with CN and they need tame shows I doubt it. Maaaybe Trigun.
Stuff that almost got on Toonami but were outbid like Slayers and Escaflowne would be the bee's knees, especially given that they're not available on streaming. *cough*

This is meant to be the anime equivalent to Checkered Past, which shows nostalgic CN shows. I don't know about the other 4kids shows but OG Indigo League Pokemon absolutely has an audience with nostalgic adults.

Well that’s all about to change starting May 31st. Soon rayearth (tv and ova), slayers, and escaflowne will all be on that block as a historical moment!

They can’t air versions they don’t have the rights to and the DiC version of Sailor Moon has been gone for almost two decades now.

They can’t air versions they don’t have the rights to and the DiC version of Sailor Moon has been gone for almost two decades now. |
If they don't have the rights, it would probably better to just not do this at all than to do a half-baked version of it with shows that aren't actually nostalgic to the target audience of the block.

I have a lot of nostalgia for the 90s Sailor Moon dub but I don’t understand the fans who think a version that changed all the music and names and made Sailor Uranus and Neptune cousins is better than an actual uncut and faithful dub but that’s just me.

The problem with that is if they plan to do this for a long period, do they go with the longer Dragon Ball Z anime or the shortened Kai anime? While I do think Kai is superior I would like to see classic DBZ as well. Naruto is also long enough. I don't think they will show the whole thing.
Keep in mind, DBZ is surprisingly longer than Naruto. Not counting Shippuden. Shippuden is even longer at 500 episodes. That's a lot of filler.

It's not that its BETTER but that it is the version that CN first aired and would be the one nostalgia audiences would remember, in a block aimed at Nostalgia that's VERY important.
...But I dont see what's so wrong about using the VIZ dub, I would just call it "The Version CN's censors didn't WANT YOU TO SEE!!!" Not as nostalgic, but certainly worthy of a place in the line up, no real contradiction.
