This year's eighth issue of Kodansha's Weekly Morning magazine announced on Thursday that Masaya Tsunamoto and Tsujitomo's Giant Killing soccer manga will return from hiatus in the next issue on January 26. The manga has been on break since September.
Weekly Morning first published Giant Killing in 2007. The first compiled book volume shipped in April 2007, and the 42nd and most recent volume shipped on October 21. The 43rd volume will ship on January 23.
The series inspired a 2010 television anime, which Crunchyroll streamed as it aired in Japan. Crunchyroll removed the anime from its site in November 2012. The company describes the series:
Experiencing a long streak of poor performances for several years in the Japanese professional football league, the East Tokyo United (ETU) hires Takeshi Tatsumi as manager to try to break the curse.
Studio DEEN animated the 26-episode series. Yuu Kou (Chrono Crusade, Loveless, Monochrome Factor, Umi Monogatari ~Anata ga Ite Kureta Koto~) directed, and Toshifumi Kawase (When They Cry - Higurashi, The Law of Ueki) oversaw the scripts.
