Ichijinsha launched a website on Saturday to announce that Touya Mikanagi's Karneval manga is getting a stage play adaptation in spring 2016. The website noted that it will reveal more details about the play at a later date. Ichijinsha also launched a Twitter account for the stage play.
Mikanagi launched the fantasy action series in the Monthly Comic Zero-Sum magazine in 2008, and Ichijinsha published the 16th compiled book volume in Japan on Saturday. A limited edition of the volume bundled a drama CD.
Yen Press is publishing the manga in English, and it will release the third compiled volume in November. The series inspired a television anime in 2013, and Funimation released the complete series on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in North America in June 2014.
Funimation describes the story:
Armed with only an abandoned bracelet as a clue, Nai searches for someone dear to him. After a run in with a pick-pocket named Gareki!, the two find themselves involved in a government set-up that leaves them wanted criminals. Desperate and on-the-run, Nai and Gareki! turn to the country's most powerful defense organization – "Circus" – for help.
Mikanagi recently ended the ROOT∞REXX Honey Melody manga last Friday.
