Online retailers Manga Oh and Amazon are listing that a limited edition of the 20th compiled book volume of Shungiku Nakamura's Junjo Romantica boys-love manga will bundle a "premium anime DVD" that will have one 20-minute episode. The limited edition will ship on December 1.
Amazon is also listing that the OAD will star Takahiro Sakurai, Hikaru Hanada, Kentarou Itou, Nobutoshi Canna, Daisuke Kishio, Kazuhiko Inoue, Toshiyuki Morikawa, and Ryōtarō Okiayu, all of whom played characters in previous animated adaptations of the manga. Sakurai and Hanada play the lead characters Misaki Takahashi and Akihiko Usami, respectively.
The limited-edition bundle will also include a DVD jacket with original illustration by character designer Yōko Kikuchi, a variant cover, and a special box. The bundle's pre-order deadline is on September 18, and it is retailing for 3,980 yen (about US$32).
Nakamura launched the manga in Kadokawa's Asuka Ciel magazine in 2002, and she transferred it to Emerald magazine in 2014. Kadokawa published the manga's 19th compiled book volume in Japan on July 1. Tokyopop published 12 English volumes of the manga under its BLU Manga imprint before it shut down its North American publishing operations in May 2011.
Nakamura's original manga already inspired two anime seasons in 2008, and also inspired a third season that premiered on July 8. Right Stuf licensed the first two seasons for North America, and Funimation is streaming the third season as it airs in Japan.
The second Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi anime series included an adaptation of Nakamura's Junjo Romantica manga spinoff Junjō Mistake, and there was also a Junjo Romantica original video anime in 2012. An original video animation volume of Nakamura's one-shot Hybrid Child debuted last year.
