Japanese publisher Kadokawa announced on Monday that it is launching a real-life version of the Emerald manga magazine from Shungiku Nakamura's Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi manga.
The first summer issue of the Ciel special edition magazine will launch on August 31. In the Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi manga, the magazine is a shōjo manga magazine, but the real-life version will feature both shōjo and boys-love manga. Nakamura's Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi and Junjo Romantica manga will switch publications to Emerald, as will Miyuki Abe's Hakkenden: Tōhō Hakken Ibun and SUPER LOVERS manga.
The new magazine's tagline is "You can read both BL and shōjo manga!? The strongest-in-history super wonderful women's magazine!!" The magazine will also include new works and new authors as well as extras.
The first issue will publish 200 pages of Nakamura's works, including a chapter of Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi ~Onodera Ritsu no Baai~, Junjo Romantica, and Junjo Terrorist, as well as a chapter of the Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi: Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai novel and a reprinting of the first chapter of Hybrid Child in commemoration of the anime adaptation. The issue will also include 100 pages of Abe's works, including a chapter of Hakkenden: Tōhō Hakken Ibun and SUPER LOVERS.
The first issue will also include manga by Kyōko Aiba and Machiko Sugihara. The extra item for the issue will be a DVD with a promotional video for the Hybrid Child anime.
Kadokawa will launch an official website for the new magazine on May 31. The staff has also launched an official Twitter account for the magazine.
