Kotori Koiwai Joins Nisekoi Anime's 2nd Season as Fū
posted on by Sarah Nelkin
This year's 14th issue of Shueisha's Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Monday that Kotori Koiwai (Joshiraku, Mekaku City Actors) will join the cast of the second television anime season of Naoshi Komi's Nisekoi: manga as Fū.
Naoshi Komi's original manga and the anime revolve around Raku Ichijō (Kōki Uchiyama), a normal high school student who happens to be the heir to a yakuza group. The attractive but violent transfer student Chitoge Kirisaki (Nao Tōyama), the heir to a rival yakuza group, transfers to his class, and the two must pretend to date to keep a war from breaking out between their families.
The 14th manga volume bundled an original video anime (OVA) on DVD, and the 16th and 17th volume will each bundle an OVA as well. Chief director Akiyuki Shinbo, director Naoyuki Tatsuwa, character designer Nobuhiro Sugiyama, the anime studio SHAFT, and the main cast are all returning for the OVAs after working on the television anime. Ayane Sakura is also joining the cast as Haru Onodera.
The anime will premiere in Japan in April.
Komi launched the manga in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2011 and Viz Media is releasing the original manga digitally and in print. Aniplex of America began releasing the television anime series on Blu-ray Disc in November, and Crunchyroll streamed the television anime as it aired in Japan.
