FROGMAN (Eagle Talon)'s Channel 5.5 project announced on Sunday that it will “remake” the Ghost in the Shell Arise original video animations (OVAs) into FROGMAN'S own style. The remake was announced in a video:
The character in the announcement video says that by remaking the series while it is still running, people will be confused and think that the remake is the original. The end of the video tells fans to be excited for what is to come.
The Channel 5.5 project adds new parody anime videos of famous manga on an irregular schedule. The story premise behind the project is a fictional television station that people can only catch if they press the "5" and "6" buttons on their remotes simultaneously.
FROGMAN is the "director/writer/character designer/sound Recording Engineer/Flash animator/editor/voice actor" of the Eagle Talon web series. The production company DLE Inc. and FROGMAN launched the first Himitsu Kessha Taka no Tsume (Secret Society Eagle Talon) television series in 2006, and the series spawned five films, an original video anime, and more television anime series. The sixth move, Taka no Tsume 7 Joō Heika Joboob, is slated for April 4. He already worked on Flash-animated projects for manga such as Thermae Romae, Shima Kōsaku and Lupin III.
Update: Sumire Uesaka plays Motoko Kusanagi in this version. There will be four parts (in adition to the Episode 0 prologue above) debuting on April 14 at 3:00 p.m. in Japan (2:00 a.m. ET).
