posted on by Sarah Nelkin
Boy must become friends multiple times with girl who only retains memories for a week in April show

TOHO animation began streaming the Yūki and Kaori character promotional videos for the television anime adaptation of Matcha Hazuki's Isshūkan Friends. (One Week Friends) manga on Wednesday. Each video features a monologue from the character that who is the focus:

Yūki Hase
The memories with her friends get reset after a week. When I first heard that, I just couldn't understand. The one week I had spent with Fujimiya had completely disappeared. The fun moments, and the moments when we understood each other... I have to create them from square one again. In that case, just one more time... No, as many times as it takes... I'll start from nothing again with the same words: "Please... be friends with me!"
Kaori Fujimiya
Don't talk to me anymore. I at least know this for sure: All my memories with you, Hase, they'll disappear. All right, let's write a diary! Today was a lot of fun. It was so fun... So fun... It was supposed to be, at least... Talk to me a lot about what happened today tomorrow, OK?

The cast for the anime includes:

Sora Amamiya (Log Horizon, Wanna Be the Strongest in the World, Gaist Crusher) as Kaori Fujimiya.

Yoshitaka Yamaya (Unbreakable Machine-Doll, Senran Kagura) as Yūki Hase

Yoshimasa Hosoya (Katanagatari, Strike the Blood) as Shōgo Kiryū

Rumi Ookubo (Pretty Rhythm Dear My Future, Servant × Service) as Saki Yamagishi

The story of the original manga revolves around Yūki, a boy who wants to become friends with his classmate and desk neighbor Kaori. However, she gently declines his friendship, saying, "But, my... Memories of my friends disappear in a week..." Even so, Yūki wants to become her friend, and so the two become friends over and over again as the weeks pass.

Tarou Iwasaki (Fullmetal Alchemist episode director) will direct the series at Brains Base (D-Fragments, Natsume's Book of Friends, Baccano!). Shôtarô Suga (The Eccentric Family, Lagrange - The Flower of Rin-ne, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) is handling the series composition, and Eri Yamazaki (My Little Monster animator) is designing the characters. Irone Toda is scoring the soundtrack.

The anime will premiere on April 7.
