Fuji TV: Sazae-san's Father Still Being Recast

Despite online rumors that Hikaru Midorikawa (Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Slam Dunk) would succeed Ichirô Nagai as voice actor for Sazae-san's father, Fuji TV officials stated on Wednesday that the studio is still in the process of recasting the role.
Earlier this month, the Daily Sports newspaper reported that the role of Sazae's father Namihei will be filled for the time being by the show's staff. The first Sazae-san episode after Nagai's passing was already recorded on January 30, and the final episode Nagai had recorded will air on Sunday, February 9.
Nagai, known for many voice roles including Ranma ½'s Happōsai, passed away on January 27 due to ischemic heart disease. He was 82.
