Paper: Sazae-san's Father to Be Played by Staff After Voice Actor's Passing

The Daily Sports newspaper reported that the role of Sazae's father Namihei in Sazae-san, which was previously voiced by Ichirô Nagai, will now be filled by the show's staff. The first Sazae-san episode after Nagai's passing was recorded on January 30.
Fellow Sazae-san voice actresses Miina Tominaga (Katsuo) and Midori Katō (Sazae) responded to an interview on the subject after attending Nagai's service on Monday. Tominaga said that she could not stop crying during the recording and had to give herself a pep talk. They also said that there are now flowers where Nagai used to sit in the studio.
Nagai, known for many voice roles including Ranma ½'s Happōsai, passed away on January 27 due to ischemic heart disease. He was 82.
