Live-Action Patlabor Prologue to Run on TV on March 2

The Episode 0 "Eikō no Tokusha Nika" (The Glorious Division 2) prologue to Mamoru Oshii's live-action The Next Generation -Patlabor- series and film will premiere on March 2 on Star Channel, a channel for movies on the BS (Broadcast Satellite) system. In this short which runs about 15 minutes long, maintenance crew chief Shigeo Shiba (Shigeru Chiba, pictured above) recounts the history of Section 2 Division 2. Chiba played the same role in the various Patlabor anime.
After the premiere on Star Channel, the prologue will play on video-streaming sites and at events.
Oshii is serving as chief director of the project overall. It begins with a seven-part series, which is composed of the "episode 0" and 12 full episodes helmed by Oshii and other directors between April 5, 2014 and January 1, 2015. Then, Oshii is directing and writing a feature-length film that will open in the Golden Week string of holidays in Spring 2015.
