posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
TV Tokyo began streaming a commercial on Monday for the television anime adaptation of Tomoya Haruno's school club manga D-Frag! (D-Fragments). The video features the ending theme song "Minna no Namae o Irete Kudasai" (Please Enter Everyone's Names) by the characters Roka Shibasaki (Kana Hanazawa), Takao-buchō (Shizuka Itou), and Funabori (Aki Toyosaki).
The story centers around a notorious delinquent named Kenji Kazama (played by Katsuyuki Konishi). One day, he unexpectedly stumbles across a "game creation club" (interim name) with club president Roka Shibasaki (game attribute: flame/darkness, played by Kana Hanazawa), club member and student council president Chitose Karasuyama (attribute: ground, played by Chiwa Saitō), club member and first-year student Sakura Mizukami (attribute: water, played by Mikako Takahashi), and club adviser/second-year teacher Minami Ohsawa (attribute: lightning, Ami Koshimizu). Kazama is half-forced to join the club, and the onetime gang member finds himself in an even stranger gathering of students.
Other cast members include Shizuka Itou as Takao-buchō, Jun Fukuyama as Ataru Kawahara, Hiroki Gotō as Yokoshima, Kenichirō Matsuda as Hiroshi Nagayama, Aki Toyosaki as Funabori, and Emiri Katō as Noe Kazama.
Seiki Sugawara (Kids on the Slope, Akikan! episode director) is directing at the studio Brains Base (Natsume's Book of Friends, Penguindrum). Makoto Uezu (Danganronpa, Kamisama Dolls) is in charge of series composition, while Nijine (Baka and Test, Akikan!) is composing the music.
The series will premiere on January 6 on TV Tokyo. Haruno launched the manga in Media Factory's Monthly Comic Alive magazine in 2008, and the eighth compiled volume is slated to ship in Japan on December 21. Seven Seas Entertainment is releasing the manga in North America.
