Funimation Licenses Eureka Seven TV Anime Series
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
North American anime licensor FUNimation Entertainment confirmed with ANN on Monday that the company has licensed BONES' Eureka Seven television anime series. Funimation also confirmed that it will release the series on Blu-ray Disc and DVD, but could not provide any further details about the release at this time.
Funimation previously licensed the EUREKA SEVEN AO sequel anime series that aired last year, and the company released the series in two sets of Blu-ray Disc/DVD combos in August and October.
BONES created the original 2005-2006 Eureka Seven television anime series, and the series inspired the 2009 anime film Eureka Seven - good night, sleep tight, young lovers. Tomoki Kyoda directed the 50-episode series, Dai Satō (Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex) handled the series composition, Kenichi Yoshida designed the characters, and Naoki Satō (X, Moyashimon, Sword of the Stranger) wrote the music.
Bandai Entertainment released both the original anime series and the film in North America on DVD. Bandai Entertainment also released the main Eureka Seven manga adaptation by Jinsei Kataoka and Kazuma Kondou, and the Eureka Seven: Gravity Boys & Lifting Girl manga spinoff by Miki Kizuki.
