The first volume of Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan manga topped Nielsen BookScan's list of top 20 graphic novel sales in October, beating Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead Compendium volume 1, which ranked at #2.
Four volumes of Attack on Titan ranked in the top 20, including volume 2 at #9, volume 7 at #18, and volume 3 at #19.
Five other manga volumes ranked in the top 20: Akihisa Ikeda's Rosario + Vampire Season II volume 12 ranked at #3, Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto volume 62 ranked at #10, Tite Kubo's Bleach volume 58 ranked at #11, Kanoko Sakurakoji's Black Bird volume 17 ranked at #12, and Naoko Takeuchi's Sailor Moon Short Stories volume 1 ranked at #17.
In September, Attack on Titan volume 1 had ranked at #4, volume 2 had ranked at #7, volume 3 had ranked at #16, and volume 7 had ranked at #18. Additionally, Sailor Moon Short Stories volume 1 had topped the chart, and Naruto volume 62 had ranked at #3.
The BookScan rankings represent sales at Barnes & Noble and other book chains, independent bookshops, and online purchases — but not sales at comic book stores, Walmart, and some other venues.
