The November issue of Shueisha's Jump Square magazine announced last week that Binbō-gami ga! manga creator Yoshiaki Sukeno will start a new series titled Sōsei no Onmyōji (Onmyoji of Disaster). The series is described as "two stars (a boy and a girl) reaching each other after traveling the skies for a thousand years — a new fantasy about the forces of Ying and Yang." The first chapter of the "new-generation onmyō (ancient Japanese occultism) fantasy" will run in the November issue on October 4 with a color page and art on the magazine cover.
Yoshiaki Sukeno's Binbō-gami ga! ended in the August issue of Jump Square. The manga had been running in the magazine since 2008, and 15 volumes have been compiled and published.
The supernatural comedy of Binbō-gami ga! revolves around Ichiko Sakura, a girl whose blissful life comes from her bountiful "happiness energy" — gained by sapping that energy from other people. To restore the balance, the Binbō-gami (Poverty God) Momiji Binbada attempts to eliminate her.
Binbō-gami ga! was adapted into a 13-episode anime series last year. FUNimation Entertainment streamed the series as it aired in Japan and later licensed it for home video release in North America.
