Petit Eva's Ryusuke Hamamoto Ends Enka to Hanamichi Manga
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Ryusuke Hamamoto will end his Enka to Hanamichi manga in the October issue of Earth Star Entertainment's Monthly Comic Earth Star magazine on September 12. The only compiled book volume will ship in Japan in November.
The story follows Enka Misora and Hanamichi, two aspiring idols who decide that the best way to become stars is to sing enka (a style of ballad singing loosely inspired by traditional Japanese music). Hamamoto just started the manga earlier this year.
Hamamoto currently serializes Oni Work in Takeshobo's Manga Club Original magazine and the Hiyokobocchi manga in Enterbrain's Weekly Famitsu magazine.
Hamamoto, who also goes by the name "Ryu Moto," designed the characters in the computer-animated Petit Eva - Evangelion@School project and other spinoffs based on Gainax's Neon Genesis Evangelion television anime series. He also drew Image Comics' Compass comic series and the LR Shōjo Tantei Dan manga. Along with other artists, he contributed to the Comic Artists - Asia and Hon anthologies.
