Pokémon Games Sell 172 Million Worldwide

The Pokémon Game Show event at Tokyo Big Sight announced on Sunday that as of March 31, 172 million units of Pokémon-related titles have sold worldwide. The first Pokémon games, Pokémon Red and Blue (Green in Japan) were released for the Nintendo Game Boy in Japan in 1996.
Nintendo's Pokémon X and Pokémon Y games received 260,000 pre-orders in its first two days of pre-sale. Pre-orders opened in Japan on August 10, and the games will ship for the Nintendo 3DS worldwide on October 12.
The Pokémon Tretta Lab for Nintendo 3DS game also shipped in Japan on August 10 and sold 22,000 copies in its first two days. Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2 ranked 36th on the list of Japan's top-selling games for the week of August 5 to 11.
