The Harvey Awards, which honors outstanding work in comics and sequential art, revealed its list of nominations for this year's awards on Monday. The 22nd volume of Naoki Urasawa's 20th Century Boys manga has been nominated in the "Best American Edition of Foreign Material" category. The manga is nominated alongside Renaud Dillies and Regis Hautiere's Abelard by NBM Publishing, Juan Diaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido's Blacksad: A Silent Hell by Dark Horse Comics, Jacques Tardi, Benjamin Legrand, and Dominique Grange's New York Mon Amour by Fantagraphics Books, and Sergio Toppi's Sharaz-de: Tales from the Arabian Nights by Archaia Entertainment.
20th Century Boys was last nominated in the same category in 2010. The manga has also been nominated for this year's Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards. The manga has also been nominated for the Eisner Awards in 2012, 2011, and 2010. Viz Media published the entire series and its 21st Century Boys sequel in North America.
Unlike the Eisner Awards and other awards in the North American comic book industry, the Harvey Awards are nominated and selected by the comic book professionals themselves. The Harvey Awards will be held in conjunction with Baltimore Comic-Con in Baltimore, Maryland on September 7.
Last year Shigeru Mizuki's Onward Towards Our Noble Deaths and Ōji Suzuki's A Single Match manga were nominated in the same category. In 2011, the Ax - Alternative Manga anthology was nominated in the same category.
