Toukiden PSP Game Gets Prequel Manga
posted on by Karen Ressler
Toukiden Woniuchi, a manga prequel of the upcoming PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita game Toukiden, will begin serialization as an e-book on Sony's Reader Store starting on Wednesday — one day before the game ships in Japan. Urasuke Ayano is writing and drawing the story that takes place several years before Tarō Diffendorfer's scenario for Tecmo KOEI's game. Five chapters are currently planned, and they will be released monthly.
The seventh volume of Kadokawa Shoten's Samurai Ace magazine, which ships on Wednesday, will contain a preview of the first chapter and a chapter 0. The issue will also contain a code for a mask that can be used in the game.
The Reader Store will have the first chapter on sale for 105 yen (about US$1) for one month after its release, and likewise for subsequent chapters. Afterwards, they will revert to their regular price of 158 yen (about US$1.60).
The game is set several years after a temporal cataclysm unleashed demons into the human world. Players control a demon hunter charged with ridding the world of the new menace. The studio Omega-Force, which developed the Musou (Warriors) franchise, is developing the title and Hidari (Fractale, Natsu-iro Kiseki, Vividred Operation) designed the characters for the game. Tecmo KOEI plans to release the game in the West on PlayStation Vita in the fourth quarter of 2013.
