posted on by Egan Loo
This year's combined 6th/7th issue of Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits magazine is announcing on Monday that a television anime adaptation of Tobira Oda's Danchi Tomoo comedy manga will premiere on the public broadcaster NHK this spring. More details will be in the ninth issue on January 28.
The manga centers around a fourth-grade boy named Tomoo who lives in an apartment complex with his mother and big sister. With his father away on a long-term work contract, Tomoo gets into one misadventure after another with his friends.
Oda launched the manga in Big Comic Spirits in 2003, and Shogakukan will publish the 21st compiled book volume on January 30. The manga was nominated for the prestigious Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prizes in 2005, 2006, and 2007.
