posted on by Egan Loo
Japanese publisher Takeshobo began streaming the first promotional video for the anime adaptation of Choboraunyopomi's four-panel comedy manga Ai Mai Mi (I My Me) on Tuesday.
The manga follows girls in a manga club — Ai, Mai, Mī, and Ponoka-sempai — who might be fighting evil invaders threatening Earth, facing off against rivals in tournaments, and dealing with other absurd situations when they are not drawing manga.
Yuka Ōtsubo (Yuruyuri's Kyōko Toshinō) voices Ai, Aya Uchida (Yuruyuri's Kaede, Freezing's Tichie Fenille) voices Mai, and Maaya Uchida (Yuruyuri's Mari, Sankarea's Rea, Chūnibyō demo Koi ga Shitai!'s Rikka) voices Mī. Other cast members include Ai Kayano (anohana's Menma, Lagrange's Muginami) as Ponoka-sempai and Seitarō Mukai of the comedy duo Tenshin as the narrator. Ōtsubo, Aya Uchida and Maaya Uchida also sing the show's theme song, "Girigiri Saikyō Ai Mai Mi!" as their characters.
Itsuki Imazaki (Beyblade the Movie: Fierce Battle, episode director for Divergence Eve, Haibane Renmei) is directing the anime, writing the scripts, and designing the characters. Game composer Fūga Hatori (Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Kai: Tsumihoroboshi-hen) is scoring the music. The studio Seven is producing the anime.
The series will premiere January 3 on AT-X, followed by TV Saitama, and KBS Kyoto before streaming on the Niconico, Bandai Channel and Rakuten ShowTime services.
