Beyblade Zero-G Spinning Top Anime to Debut in April
posted on by Egan Loo
The March issue of Shogakukan's Monthly CoroCoro Comic magazine announced on Wednesday that Beyblade Zero-G, a new television anime series based on the Beyblade spinning-top game franchise, will premiere in April. The series will feature a new main character, Zero Kurogane. Unlike the metal motif that has been the theme of the last three Beyblade series, the new series revolves around "crystals," or translucent parts. The accompanying toyline will feature a new stadium design with three corner pits.
The Beyblade spinning-top game from Takara Tomy and Hasbro inspired three anime series from 2001 to 2003. However, there was no new anime after that until 2009, when Metal Fight Beyblade premiered.
The Canadian production company Nelvana adapted the Metal Fight Beyblade anime as Beyblade: Metal Fusion in North America in 2010, and then released the second Metal Fight Beyblade anime under the name Beyblade: Metal Masters. Metal Fight Beyblade 4D, the sixth Beyblade anime series, has been airing in Japan since April, and Nelvana has been offering it overseas under the title Beyblade: Metal Fury.
