Gintama Wins Gold Disc Award for Most Anime Album Sales

The album Gintama Best 2 won the Animation Album of the Year award in the 26th Japan Gold Disc Awards. With these awards, the Recording Industry Association of Japan recognizes the best-selling CDs and other related releases in the previous year. The marketing survey firm Oricon reported that Gintama Best 2 sold 139,031 copies last year.
The all-female idol group AKB48 won 10 awards including the Japanese Artist of the Year. AKB48 matched Arashi's record for the most wins, which Arashi set two years ago. Lady Gaga won the Western Artist of the Year honor for the second straight year.
