Kimi ni Todoke Manga Ships 7th Million-Selling Book in a Row
posted on by Egan Loo
The market survey firm Oricon Communications reports on Thursday that the 12th volume of Karuho Shiina's Kimi ni Todoke manga has sold 1.004 million copies as of October 24. It is the seventh consecutive volume (since Oricon began reporting book sales in 2008) to sell over a million copies, and it is the fastest book in the series to reach that milestone, having done so in its fifth week of sales. In addition, all twelve volumes landed on Oricon's top 100 comic ranking chart in September.
The sales of the manga were boosted this past month by the September 24 opening of the live-action film adaptation starring Mikako Tabe and Haruma Miura. Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret magazine also announced this month that the second season of the Kimi ni Todoke television anime series has been green-lit for next January.
