posted on by Egan Loo
The media-distribution website Crunchyroll has announced on Thursday that it is simulcasting the Otome Yōkai Zakuro television anime series starting on October 4. The simulcast will be available in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, and Portugal. Chiaki Kon (When They Cry - Higurashi, Hanasakeru Seishōnen, Junjō Romantica) is directing the animators at J.C. Staff on this project based on Lily Hoshino's manga.
The supernatural historical anime is set in an alternate version of Japan where humans and yōkai (demons) co-exist. The government has established a Ministry of Yōkai and Humans to deal with the incidents that flare up between the two races. The ministry is composed of human representatives, yōkai representatives, and one girl named Zakuro (Mai Nakahara) with half-human, half-yōkai blood.
