Love*Com's Nakahara to Launch Berry Dynamite Manga Series
posted on by Egan Loo
The May issue of Shueisha's Bessatsu Margaret magazine has announced on Monday that Lovely Complex (Love*Com) creator Aya Nakahara will turn her Berry Dynamite manga story into a regular series in the next issue on May 13. Nakahara already drew Berry Dynamite as a one-shot manga story that ran in the April issue last month. The comedy story follows Mai and Kurumi — two polar opposites who act friendly onstage as the hit singing duo "Star Berry," but bicker offstage. What Mai really wants to become is a rock singer, but the easily flustered Kurumi would rather sing idol songs. In addition to the new 50-page Berry Dynamite chapter, Nakahara will illustrate the cover of the June issue.
In last month's Deluxe Margaret magazine, Nakahara drew a Lovely Complex Deluxe (Love*Com D) side story that takes place after the story in her original Love*Com manga series. Viz Media will release the 12th of the original Love*Com manga's 17 volumes in North America next month, and Viz Pictures released the live-action film adaptation of this manga on North American DVD last year. There is also a television anime series that ran in Japan in 2007. Nakahara began and ended her last manga series, Nanacorobin, last year in Bessatsu Margaret.
