Aya Nakahara to Launch Lovely Complex D Manga Spinoff
posted on by Egan Loo
The March issue of Shueisha's Deluxe Margaret magazine has announced on Wednesday that Aya Nakahara will draw a Lovely Complex Deluxe (Love*Com D) manga spinoff based on her popular hit series, Lovely Complex (Love*Com). The new manga will launch in the May issue, which will ship on March 28. The original romantic comedy followed two close, but bickering, high school friends with height complexes: a tall girl named Risa Koizumi and a short boy named Atsushi Ohtani. The advertising blurb for Love*Com D promises that "the family of Love*Com will return," but hints that Risa and Atsushi will not be main leads this time.
Nakahara began and ended her last manga, Nanacorobin, last year in Bessatsu Margaret magazine. Viz Media released the 10th of the original Love*Com manga's 17 volumes in North America this month, and Viz Pictures released the live-action film adaptation of this manga on North American DVD last February. There is also a television anime series that ran in Japan in 2007.
