posted on by Egan Loo
Kodansha's Morning magazine has posted the results of the 2nd Morning International Manga Competition in English. The announcement contains summaries and judges' comments on Meng-Li Yu's Grand-Prize-winning Fairy Tale entry, the two Second Prize entries (Liu Ching Lun's Joe's Teeth and Kathryn Chong's Puppet Eyes), and the seven finalist entries. It also includes comments from Yu, Lun, and Chong on their respective wins.
Morning magazine is already accepting submissions for the 3rd Morning International Manga Competition, whose deadline is September 30. As before, the winning entry will be published in Morning magazine or its Morning 2 spinoff. Morning 2 published REM's Kage no Matsuri after that manga won the first competition, and it published Yu's Fairy Tale in May.
In a related development, Morning 2 has just launched Felipe Smith's Peepo Choo manga this week. Peepo Choo is the magazine's first serialized manga created by an American. Smith is living in Japan as he works on the monthly title.
