posted on by Egan Loo
The official Japanese website of the live-action Aquarian Age film has posted a trailer and a new interview with one of the main actors, Rakuto Tochihara (Boogiepop Phantom's Poom Poom, Kamen Rider Hibiki's Asumu). The film is based on the Japan's most popular domestic trading card game — specifically, the characters from the female-oriented Juvenile Orion spinoff. Broccoli Books released the Juvenile Orion manga in North America.
The story focuses on several high school boys who discover that they inherited latent genetic traits — among other things, wings that sprout out of their backs. They soon find themselves caught in a millennia-old war, with each representing one of several different factions. Dōri Sakurada (The Prince of Tennis musical's Ryōma) and Tochihara play the two main leads, Kaname and Naoya.
The movie will open in Japan on March 22. Broccoli International USA hinted that an American release is possible, depending on the interest.
