Ookiku, xxxHOLiC, Gundam, other anime tie-ins dominate chart
Sports manga demonstrate how they are seasonal favorites as the baseball slice-of-life drama Ookiku Furikabutte leads the standings, with the diamond field classic Major and boxing's Hajime no Ippo trailing not far behind. A full seven of the titles have recent anime connections, while the Liar Game psychological thriller has been adapted into an ongoing live-action drama. The sole shōjo title is #2's Kimi ni Todoke, a comedy of a sulky loner girl's struggle to adjust to high school.
