Kadokawa recently introduced what appears to be its youngest voice actress yet, first grader Hikari Okada, at a presentation for the anime adaptation of What do you do at the end of the world? Are you busy? Will you save us? (SukaSuka) at AnimeJapan 2017. Okada voices the character Elq-Hrqstn in the show, which premiered on April 12.
Okada was the winner of the "Main Character Child Voice Actor Auditions" held in February. The AnimeJapan presentation was her first introduction to the public.
Okada appeared on stage with fellow voice actresses Azusa Tadokoro, who voices the character Chtholly-Nota-Seniorious, and Akane Kohinata, who voices Almita. When welcomed onto the stage, Okada said in a very clear voice, "Hello everyone, I'm Hikari Okada and I play Elk." Tadokoro and Kohinata both responded with, "So cute!"
Of the recording process, Okada said, "Post-recording was fun...It was only a little bit hard."
Kadokawa opened a training school for young voice actors back in 2015.
The What do you do at the end of the world? Are you busy? Will you save us? anime is based on the light novel series of the same name written by Akira Kareno and illustrated by ue. The light novels were published by Kadokawa Shoten under their subsidiary Sneaker Bunko. The anime is being streamed by Crunchyroll as it is released.
